HEC HAT Test 2024
Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) is conducted by HEC Higher Education Commission. The date of HEC HAT Test 2024 is announced by HEC.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) via Education Testing Council (ETC) will conduct Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) for award of all HEC scholarships and admission in MS/ MPhil & Ph.D programmes through a uniform, accessible, and transparent selection process.
Who Can Apply For HAT?
The HEC HAT Test 2024 is being organized for those applicants who:
- Have already applied online for any MS/ MPhil & Ph.D admission OR HEC scholarships via E-portal for further final selection process.
- Intend to apply for the HEC scholarship schemes advertised in future including those by HEC sponsored Pakistani Universities.
- Are interested in securing admission in MS/MPhil & Ph.D programmes in public and private universities of Pakistan that accept the HAT.
Which HAT Versions to Apply for based on Academic Streams?
The HEC HAT Test 2024 will be conducted in the following five categories based on 16 years / equivalent education and the students should register accordingly:

- The applicant must select the correct category while filling in the online form.
- Test score will be valid for 2 years (for scholarships and admissions in MS/ MPhil & Ph.D programmes).
Date of Examination
- The test will tentatively be held on August 4, 2024. Any change in test date will be communicated through http://hec.gov.pk and http://etc.hec.gov.pk
- Applicants who register through HEC online registration process will be able to download their Roll Number Slip from http://etc.hec.gov.pk and through their registered Email address a week before the test date.
- Email/SMS will also be sent to the registered applicants for test date, time, and venue. While filling out online application forms, candidates are required to provide their valid email/mobile numbers on which they wish to receive their Roll Number Slips.
- A printout of Roll Number Slip and Original CNIC/Passport will be required to enter the Test Centre on the Test Day.
How to Apply?
Students can apply for HEC HAT Test 2024 in the following way
- For online registration, visit: http://etc.hec.gov.pk.
- In case of difficulty during online registration, visit https://onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk/.
- Only SUBMITTED applications will be considered for HAT and applications in SAVE or INCOMPLETE mode will not be entertained.
- Fee will be submitted through 1 Link/1 Bill Invoice payment services with the generated consumer number.
- After depositing the fee through 1Link 1Bill Invoice, click on Verify Online Payment on ETC Dashboard. The test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- The candidates must get queries/complaints resolved before the closure of the web registration portal. Queries/complaints handling beyond the registration deadline will be denied by the system due to logistics/security reasons.

NOTE HEC HAT Test 2024 :
Taking a mobile or any calculating, recording or imaging electronic device inside the test centre or uploading or sharing the images of question book is strictly prohibited and an offence liable to be punished as per the ETC rules.
