Qualification & Experience

Qualification for WAPDA Jobs 2024 are

Master’s Degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering / Climate Change / Finance or Economics from recognized University preferably certification / diploma in Carbon Credits & ESG etc. from internationally recognized Institution.

15 years work experience in the field of Climate / Environment including 05 years specific experience of Policies and Procedures related to Carbon Credits Mechanism and Accreditation process with International entities like UNFCCC and its associated Organizations and National entities.

Should have successfully completed several projects related to Carbon Credits preferably Hydropower projects via GCC. Experience in identification and designing financial window i.e. GCC, markets, GEF or others for various development initiatives. • Work experience in developing countries and / or in a multilateral programming environment, and broad knowledge of climate change and climate finance.

Work experience in any of the following: economics, finance, sustainable development, climate / environment policy, political science, law or related fields will be an added advantage.

Tenure

The appointment will be on contract basis for a period of 01 year extendable as per requirement of the Organization and satisfactory performance of the individual consultant.

Pay Package

Competitive market based lumpsum pay package commensurate with qualification experience of the individual.

Terms of Reference (TORS)/Scope of Work

The scope of work for the Individual Consultant shall include but not limited to the following:
Conduct a comprehensive review of WAPDA’s existing projects and future plans to identify potential opportunities for Carbon Credits and develop a carbon accounting mechanism.
Assess and analyze the eligibility criteria, requirement and limitations associated with accessing Carbon Credits, considering international protocols and standards.
Guidance on compliance with international protocols, standards, and regulatory frameworks related to environmental management
Developing a roadmap and action plan for integrating Carbon Credits mechanisms into WAPDA’s projects and implementation process. Identify and design financial window ie. GCC markets, GEF or others for WAPDA’s development initiatives.
Develop a detailed mechanism and facilitate the process of accrediting and registering WAPDA with international agencies for Carbon Credits.
Assess the financial resources required for implementing environmental projects and explore potential source of funding.
Provide recommendations on projects scope, prioritization, implementation and monitoring strategies to maximize environmental benefits and sustainability with financial returns.
Deliver a detailed report outlining findings, recommendation for integrating Carbon Credits into WAPDA’s operations.
Providing capacity building and training session for WAPDA staff to enhance their understanding of Carbon Credits principles and procedures. Engaging with relevant stakeholders within WAPDA to gather input and insights of Carbon Credits priorities and challenges.
